Manual or Automatic?
When choosing a car to buy, an important factor to consider is the transmission - whether automatic or manual. An automatic car means the gears shift without your aide. With this kind of car, you will not need a third pedal, clutch and to shift from one gear to another. A manual car means that you have to learn how to use a clutch to shift the gear from one to another. You have to utilise both of your feet to drive this type of car.
Usually, manual transmission cars are less expensive that automatic ones. Repairs for manual cars cost less as well. For skilled drivers, they can shift gears faster than automatic cars. For example, some drivers can down shift gears quicker than automatic transmission when driving on a steep hill. However, some people prefer automatic cars because they do not like driving stick shift or manual transmissions. And if you are not good at manual transmission, you may easily burn out the gears. These days, it automatic cars are manufactured more than manual ones. So unless you drive a race car or industrial vehicle, it may be hard to find a manual transmission car, especially a new one.
On the other hand, automatics cost less. And if you want to master listening to your car and knowing when to shift gears, automatics can help you practice on that. Deciding whether to use a manual or automatic really is a matter of choice. Even if you are still learning how to drive, it is up to you if you want to put more focus and foot action, or let the car do the transmission for you.
